Derek Bruce

I am a commercial agent and co-owner at Troy Insurance Agency. I work with businesses to reduce risk and mitigate claims by providing experienced advice and tailored options. I offer workers compensation for all Idaho businesses, including those in manufacturing, construction, health care, long-term care facilities, and restaurants. I develop clear plans to create safer workplaces through custom safety training and policies designed to minimize claims, reduce risks, and lower workers’ compensation costs. I am known for my personal touch, quick response time, and deep understanding of clients’ needs.

I started my career as a professional baseball player in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ minor league system. After being released, I worked as a branch manager at a local credit union. I then spent 11 years at ATK/Vista Outdoor as a customer service manager and program manager.

I hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Idaho and an undergraduate degree from Lewis-Clark State College. I am also the president of the Lewiston Little League Board and a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Lewis-Clark Valley.

I grew up in Lewiston, Idaho, and have been married to my wife Jill since 2006. We have three children: Mady, Elly, and Kolter, along with our Hungarian Vizsla, Charlee. Outside of work, I enjoy archery elk hunting, fly fishing, riding side-by-sides, coaching my kids’ sports, and camping. I love the supportive and giving nature of our community.
