It’s not every day an office has three people commit to and complete a marathon together.
At Leavitt Capital Insurance Services, that’s exactly what Santiago Masaya, Ian Fraser, and Finn Maenza set out to do.
It started out simple. In April 2025, the agency sponsored a local charity 5K and received a few complimentary race entries. Santiago, Ian, and Finn decided to run it together. At first, the 5k was just a way to support the cause and spend some time outside the office. But something clicked. What began as a casual run quickly turned into a shared challenge.
A few months later, after completing his first half-marathon, Ian mentioned he was considering taking on a full marathon. Within just two days, all three had registered for the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach.
From there, it became a team effort.
They trained together using a shared app, keeping each other accountable through early mornings, long runs, and the inevitable setbacks that come with training: illness, injuries, and everything in between. What started as an individual goal turned into a collective one, built on consistency and a commitment to finish what they started.
The morning of the marathon brought challenging weather and a high-energy crowd of supporters and spectators. And when all was said and done, Santiago, Ian, and Finn crossed the finish line of their first marathon together.
This April, they ran again in the 5K that started it all. Ian took first overall, with Santiago and Finn close behind, each showing just how far they’ve come over the past year.
The finish line marked the end of the race and everything they built along the way.
