Derek Gerken

I’m a commercial insurance advisor with CIA-Leavitt Insurance and can help a lot of different industries, but I focus on agriculture insurance. I grew up farming and now have 25 years of experience on the insurance side of agriculture. You could say I’m familiar with the risks that the ag industry faces.  

I grew up in Fort Morgan and left for a little bit to earn my master and bachelor’s degrees in agriculture education from Colorado State University. I enjoy giving back to the community by participating in various community groups. I’m a member of the Morgan Conservation District Board, the Colorado Livestock Association, an FFA Alumni, and served for eight years on the Morgan County School District RE-3 Board of Education.  

Between spending time with my wife and four sons, working my cow-calf operation and ranch, and gardening, I stay pretty active. When I do have a quiet moment, I like to eat at my favorite restaurant, Acapulco Bay, or sit on the front porch of my home with my family.
