Blog Life Insurance Awareness Month: A Reminder to Protect What Matters

September is National Life Insurance Awareness Month, and for us, this time of year is more than just a reminder. It’s a meaningful opportunity to ask an important question: Are the people we love truly protected if life takes an unexpected turn?

Every day, we speak with families, individuals, and business owners who want to feel more secure about the future. One of the most powerful tools we recommend is life insurance. Not because it’s our business, but because it works. It protects families. It builds legacies. It creates peace of mind.

What happens with — and without — life insurance?

At Spotts Insurance Group, we’ve had the honor of helping families through some of life’s most difficult moments. We have seen how a well-planned life insurance policy can ease the financial burden after a loss. We have also seen how the lack of coverage can cause additional stress, hardship, and uncertainty during already painful times.

Who really needs life insurance?

Many people think life insurance is only something you need once you have children or reach a certain age. But that simply isn’t true.

Here are just a few of the people we often recommend life insurance to:

  • Young professionals who want to lock in the most affordable rates while they are healthy.
  • Parents who want to ensure their children and spouse are financially protected.
  • Stay-at-home caregivers whose work has a high replacement value.
  • Business owners who need to protect their company and team.
  • Single adults who want to avoid leaving loved ones with unexpected expenses.
  • Students who have taken out loans to pay for college or secondary education.
  • Homeowners with a balance left on a mortgage or open credit lines.

If someone would be financially impacted by your absence, you should consider life insurance. Making plans for the future can be scary, but not as frightening as leaving those you love with financial burdens.

What types of life insurance coverages are available?

One of the biggest myths about this topic is that life insurance is expensive. In reality, many people can secure high-quality coverage for less than the cost of a few coffees each month.

There are different types of life insurance to fit different needs. Whether you are looking for simple term coverage or a policy that builds long-term value like whole or universal life, we are here to help you explore the best options.

Life insurance can be less expensive than some streaming services monthly, talk to a SIG agent today to see what a policy would cost to protect your family.

How do I choose the right life insurance policy for me?

Choosing the right life insurance policy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

Our licensed agents are here to help you understand your options and make confident decisions. We pride ourselves at being advisors, not salespeople. We want to guide you to the policy that benefits you the most. Great coverage for great people!

This Life Insurance Awareness Month, take a moment to reflect on your current situation:

  • Do you have life insurance today?
  • Is your current coverage enough to meet your family's needs?
  • Have you experienced recent life changes like marriage, a new baby, a new home, or a new job?
  • Do you understand what your policy covers and how it works?

If you are unsure about the answers to any of these questions, it might be time for a quick review or a conversation about getting started.

When should I review my life insurance policy?

At Spotts Insurance Group, we believe that life insurance is more than a policy. It’s a promise. It is a way to say to your loved ones, “I’ve made sure you’ll be taken care of, no matter what.”

This September, let’s start that conversation. Whether you are reviewing your current policy, exploring new coverage, or applying for the first time, we are here to support you every step of the way.
