About Nate
Along with working in the commercial risk management sphere, I am also the mayor of Farmington, New Mexico. I was elected to the Farmington City Council in 2014 and as mayor in 2018.
My past work experience includes 10 years as the owner of Farmers Insurance, the Duckett Agency, where we focus on personal, commercial, and life insurance, as well as provided financial services for retirement and college savings plans. Prior to that, I worked in corporate management for 12 years, operating multi-million-dollar retail stores for Hastings Entertainment in New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas.
Years of service as an elected official and as a board member of the Farmington Chamber of Commerce and Leadership San Juan have given me an astute knowledge and insight into the inner workings of our community. It has also provided me with a strong network of service-minded people dedicated to its success. I have a great desire to serve others and promote local business in our community and state.
I grew up in Northglenn, Colorado and moved to Farmington, New Mexico when I was 15 years old. Within one month of moving I met the woman of my dreams, who later became my wife. We have been married for more than 20 years and have two children. We enjoy being outside and exploring the Four Corners region as a family. I also volunteer as a youth football and baseball coach and consider myself a highly skilled home chef!

I graduated from Farmington High School in 1996 and received a bachelor's degree in criminology from the University of New Mexico in 2001.
I have been successful in honing my communication and customer service skills after 20-plus years working with thousands of individuals, both as a retail manager and insurance agency owner. I use these skills to provide the timely service and accurate coverage and policy information my clients deserve.
