About Derek
I am co-owner of Pirkle Weir Insurance Agency, where I manage and oversee three locations and all daily operations. My passion for developing relationships with clients and providing a stable future for my family has driven my success in the industry. I value the time I spend with my family and appreciate their involvement in growing this family-run business.
I graduated from Angelo State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/management and marketing. I began my career in insurance soon after with Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, where I worked for nearly seven years. In 2011, I joined Pirkle Weir Insurance Agency and purchased the agency in 2013.
I have been an active board member of the Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo and the Howard County Fair Board for nearly 20 years. Currently, I serve as the president of the Howard County Fair Association, a board member with Dora Roberts Rehab Center, and participate in several committees at College Baptist Church, where I am an active member.
I love spending time with my twin boys, Carter and Kinsler, and have coached their baseball and basketball teams since 2016. I believe one of my biggest callings is to mentor the youth in my community. In my free time, I enjoy hunting with my boys, traveling with my wife Crystal, and planning weekends and trips around baseball and fellowship with friends and family.
