“We were so delighted when our new home was finally completed in September of 2022. Then began all the due diligence of home protection including insurance. To our despair we found all the main insurance companies refused to offer us insurance. At the time I discovered and researched considerably and found that insurance companies are using 3rd party apps to designate fire risk - no other personal inspections of surrounding areas are made - purely - it appears, as if there is the word National or State Forest on some land - in it goes as not insurable. Needless to say after multiple phone calls in search of anyone who may be able to help, I received the name of Chelsea Haidusek at Butler Leavitt Insurance Agency. It has been nothing short of miraculous what Chelsea has been able to do for us. So we had one year of reasonable insurance, and then that company got onto this whole Fire Risk thing and raised us considerably. I actually consider this practice to be the new red lining in the insurance industry. It is not fair and does not adequately assess risk. Blanket refusals based on the present system needs to be challenged. Our home is built with many many feet of defensible space - it is not a forest behind us at all - low lying scattered shrubs. As I had some drone pictures of our home along with the lay of the land, as well as all we did in building to such high safety standards, Chelsea went to bat for us. Presented our photos and situation, and she found us a company - which is highly reputable - to give us a fair pricing. What an amazing individual and agent Chelsea is.
