Alec Semandel

Alec Semandel’s path into insurance is rooted in discipline, leadership, and a strong commitment to the people he works with. 

Raised in Madison, Wisconsin, Alec grew up alongside his two brothers and developed a competitive mindset early through hockey. That drive led him to continue his development in Illinois during high school, and ultimately to the Division I level, playing at Lake Superior State University before finishing his collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire. 

While earning his bachelor’s degree in economics from the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics, Alec balanced the demands of athletics and academics with consistency and focus. He was recognized as a three-time Academic All-American, helped secure a Great Lakes Invitational championship, and received the Whoop Snively Citizenship Award, an honor that reflects leadership, character, and contribution beyond the rink.

After college, Alec signed a professional contract in Slovakia, competing with HK Skalica in the Tipos Extraliga. That experience broadened his perspective and reinforced the importance of adaptability, communication, and trust, qualities he brings into his work today. 

Alec began his insurance career with Federated Insurance, where he completed a national training program and went on to manage a territory in the Chicagoland area. His approach has always centered on building strong relationships and helping clients make informed decisions about protecting their businesses. Through consistent performance and a focus on long-term partnerships, he earned multiple leadership recognitions and grew his client base through referrals and industry connections. 

Now based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Alec recently joined Leavitt Group of Northern Arizona, where he continues to serve business owners with a focus on practical risk management and long-term strategy. 

Alec focuses on commercial insurance solutions for contractors and manufacturers. His involvement with organizations such as the Architectural Woodworking Institute, Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association, and the Technology and Manufacturing Association gives him a clear understanding of the challenges these businesses face and how to approach risk in a practical, informed way. 

Clients value Alec for his responsiveness, clear communication, and steady follow-through. He takes the time to understand how each business operates, then works to align coverage strategies that support growth and long-term stability. 

Alec lives in Scottsdale with his wife, Alyssa, and their black lab, Skip. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active through sports, hunting, fishing, fitness, and time outdoors. He and Alyssa, who played collegiate golf at the University of Wisconsin, often spend their free time on the golf course or exploring new places and experiences together.
