The team at McClain Insurance Services participated in our annual service project with the Everett Public Schools Foundation (EPSF) on July 21, 2026. Our team spent the morning opening and sorting backpacks and school supplies, moving pallets into staging areas, and assembling packing boxes. In August, EPSF volunteers will collect school supplies outside local stores, and this year the Foundation expects to distribute 3,600 fully stocked backpacks to students across the district.
One of the highlights this year was having my children, Ada (14) and August (11), join us. We were also joined by a client family, who are good friends, after they saw our Facebook post from last year's project and asked if they could help this year. We love the chance to involve our kids in our community partnerships whenever we can. This was my son's second year volunteering, and we practically had to drag him away when our shift ended.
We’ve been partnering with EPSF for 19 years. The Foundation supports the 20,000+ students and 2,500 staff members in Everett schools. From supplies to grants and scholarships, EPSF provides learners with tools and resources they need to achieve success.
We're especially invested in EPSF's work to help meet students' basic needs. The district has seven Title I schools, where at least 40% of students come from low-income families, and it has experienced a 25% increase in student homelessness over the past four years. In 2025, 1,600 students reported experiencing homelessness, and another 611 students did not have a regular place to stay. Programs like providing school supplies help eliminate back-to-school obstacles for local families so students can focus on learning.
